Inspirational Blue Cheese

Shepherds Purse Artisan Cheeses began life in the late 1980’s after Judy Bell discovered her passion and talent for cheese making as she set out on a mission to create quality dairy alternatives for cow’s milk allergy sufferers.

At the time this was something not heard about and Judy was one of the first people in the UK to set out on this most rewarding of missions.

Judy won her first Gold award in 1989 with Olde York at Nantwich International Cheese Show and awards have been an important part of Shepherds Purse since.

In 2017 the team received their best year as Harrogate Blue won Super Gold at the World Cheese awards and being named in the top 15 kinds of cheese in the World! What a most awesome achievement.

Having started by making cheese only from sheep milk, the team extended their range to include cow's milk and even water buffalo milk cheeses.

Today, best known for the fantastic blue cheeses Yorkshire Blue and Harrogate Blue, and for their sheep milk Mediterranean salad-style cheese, Yorkshire Fettle not forgetting their sheep milk blue Mrs Bell's Blue.

As Shepherds Purse has grown, they remain a proud, independent family business making cheese in the traditional way on their farm in North Yorkshire. The Shepherds Purse team is now a team of 30 passionate artisans being led by Judy’s two daughters Katie & Caroline.

Its great to be close to the team and all their achievements we are proud to support these most inspiring people as they grow their business alongside Delifresh with engagement and respect for each other along our journeys.
