Apart from that most amazing flavour and smooth texture what else do you know about this trusty fruit ???

Well now is the time to find out all you need to know as we educate our cells around all things avocardo (I'm too excited I cant type – hang on - I need a cup of tea)

Hass is the most popular variety of avocado grown worldwide. The trusty Hass tree was discovered in the backyard of a postman named Rudolph Hass in California in the 1930’s and Hass patented his tree in 1935 and the avocado empire began.

They're a climacteric fruit (you what???)- Avocado is a fruit and is climacteric, meaning it matures on the tree but ripens off of the tree. Avocados must be mature to ripen properly. In a perfect world, they would fall off the tree and ripen on the ground naturally.

Avocados need love, too - Avocado trees do not self-pollinate; they need another avocado tree close by to bear fruit. The avocado is an Aztec symbol of love and fertility, and they also grow in pairs on trees.

Avocados are poisonous to birds, cats, dogs, rabbits, and basically, all pets so WATCH OUT!!!

Other names for the trusty Avocado are Aligator Pears, Green Goddess pear, Fat Fruit, Sunshine Pear and they are even known as the Baby Maker pear in some countries.

Avocados are in the same family as cinnamon (Wowza)

As the fruit only ripens once plucked from the tree, there is a consistent 12 month season for these trusty fellas.

Legend holds stories of wild avocado fruits being used as weapons in the fight for survival by natives. Ancient tribes used to sink the fruits into rotten fermenting fruit juice and ignite them as they hurled glowing hot avocados towards their enemies and encroaching wild beasts – Wow how inventive were these fellas???

How radical is all of that ??
